Copilot vs. Copilot Pro: Which Best Suits your Needs?

Microsoft Copilot

is a free version of Copilot. It is an AI-driven utility integrated into various Microsoft applications. It also serves as a productivity booster and a user’s supportive assistant.

Developed through a collaboration between OpenAI and Microsoft, Copilot boasts capabilities like ChatGPT. Tailored versions of Copilot meet the unique needs of individual Microsoft applications. Key uses of Copilot include answering questions, summarizing content, searching the Internet, and generating images.

Microsoft Copilot Pro,

however, is a paid subscription with more enhanced features than the free version. It integrates AI functions into Microsoft 365 apps. Copilot Pro is tailored for individuals and prioritizes access to advanced AI models like GPT-4 and GPT-4 Turbo, ensuring swift response times and content creation, including AI-powered image generation with DALL-E 3.

Key uses include:
  • Generating content in Word.
  • Creating PowerPoint presentations.
  • Analyzing data in Excel.
  • Drafting emails in Outlook.
  • Generating meeting summaries in Teams.

Why get Copilot Pro?

By subscribing to Copilot Pro, you unlock several advantages:
  • Enjoy a unified AI experience across all your devices.
  • Gain priority access to OpenAI’s GPT-4 Turbo, even during peak periods, with a focus on creative conversational styles.
  • Utilize Image Creator from Designer (formerly Bing Image Creator) for higher quality landscape images and receive an increased quota of 100 daily boosts.
  • With the upcoming Copilot GPT Builder, you’ll soon be able to create your own customized Copilot GPT designed for specific topics, though availability may vary by region.

Who will Benefit Most from Copilot Pro?

You use Microsoft 365 and seek AI help for the apps.

Leveraging its AI capabilities, Copilot Pro assists in writing, editing, and summarizing text in Word, formulating and analyzing Excel data, crafting PowerPoint presentations, generating text in OneNote, composing responses, and managing your email in Outlook. If you have a Microsoft 365 Personal or Family subscription and want to speed up your writing, creation, and workflow, Copilot Pro is excellent value.

You have a substantial need for image generation.

The free Copilot allows only 15 image generations per day, while the Pro version permits up to 100 and has much faster processing. The Pro version offers smoother operations for tasks involving bulk creation of artwork, logos, or other images.

The paid and free Copilot facilitates in-line image editing within the Designer tool. Copilot Pro extends this functionality by enabling the resizing and regeneration of images between square and landscape formats.

You aim to customize your own Copilot GPTs to align precisely with your needs.

With Copilot Pro, you can develop and customize your own Copilot GPT chatbots, making it helpful if you aim to create a specialized GPT tailored to a particular skill or purpose. Using the Copilot GPT Builder, you can interact with Copilot for AI-guided assistance or manually provide a name, description, and instructions for your GPT. After completion, you can preview the functionality of your GPT and then limit access to yourself or share it with others via a link.

You refrain from employing any other paid AI services.

Investing in an AI service can boost your productivity depending on your occupation and workload. If you’re not currently subscribed to ChatGPT Plus or a comparable service, Copilot Pro may be the perfect fit for you. It’s important to note that you can trial the service for a month before deciding whether to retain or terminate it.

You heavily depend on GPT-4 and GPT-4 Turbo.

As a Copilot Pro user, you won’t be limited to GPT 3.5, even during busy periods. Instead, you’ll have the flexibility to switch between GPT-4 and the latest GPT-4 Turbo model. If you rely on GPT-4 and use it frequently throughout the day, Copilot Pro is the better choice. It provides fast and dependable access, surpassing the capabilities of the free version.
