 What is Power Apps?

Power Apps is a development platform for creating mobile and web apps, even for those with extensive coding experience. It empowers “citizen developers” to access advanced capabilities previously limited to professional developers.

Moreover, Power Apps is known for its user-friendly nature, making it relatively easy to learn. By making informed decisions about the app’s structure, you can quickly take control of your destiny and avoid any unexpected challenges. Follow this guide to navigate Power Apps effectively and prevent any unpleasant surprises.

What are the benefits and limitations of Power Apps?

  • Power Apps do not require programming.
  • Power Apps is mobile-ready.
  • Power Apps can be used with Office 365 Suite and other Microsoft applications.

  • Power Apps only works with the PowerApps App Player.

New PowerApps Pricing Arrangement

When it comes to Power Apps licensing cost, it can be overwhelming. But in this guide, you will gain clarity on the different Power Apps licensing options and their associated costs.
There are two models of Power Apps licensing – Subscription plans and Pay-as-you-go plans.

SUBSCRIPTION PLANS

Ideal for businesses seeking predictable user-based licensing, this Power Apps licensing option offers the flexibility to license users for running one app at a time or unlimited access.

Per App Plan

The Power Apps Licensing per-app plan is suitable for businesses looking to license users on a per-app or website basis, with the ability to stack licenses as needed. It is commonly used by customers who initially focus on 1-2 critical use cases before expanding their usage. This plan is ideal for end users who only require access to a limited number of apps or websites.

NOTE:

  • A single user can use numerous “per app” licenses for different business scenarios without a per-user license.
  • Purchase Power Apps per app license for specific environments and users. Multiple domains require different licenses.
  • Qualified education customers can purchase Power Apps per app under faculty and student pricing. Customers and partners must apply student pricing to students alone since these licenses are sold at tenant-level capacity and not assigned to users in Active Directory.

The Power Apps per user plan is ideal for businesses seeking a single license per user, irrespective of the required number of apps. This plan enables licensed users to run unlimited custom applications and access unlimited Power Pages websites.

PAY-AS-YOU-GO PLAN

This Power Apps licensing option is ideal for businesses that value flexibility and only want to pay when a user runs an app monthly, providing greater cost control and agility. Azure subscription allows users to pay based on the number of unique apps they run monthly, with charges applied per user. This pricing model offers flexibility and cost-effectiveness for users.

USE RIGHTS FOR POWER APPS BUNDLED WITH DYNAMICS 365 LICENSES

Users with licensed Dynamics 365 applications have limited Power Apps use rights within the same environment(s), allowing them to customize and enhance the Dynamics 365 applications. However, the Power Apps capabilities included with Dynamics 365 licenses must be limited to the same environment and within the context of the licensed Dynamics 365 application. It’s important to note that the specific use rights may vary depending on the type of Dynamics 365 license.

USE RIGHTS FOR POWER APPS BUNDLED WITH MICROSOFT/OFFICE 365 LICENSES

Limited Power Apps use rights are available with particular Microsoft/Office 365 licenses, enabling users to customize and expand the capabilities of Microsoft/Office 365 for productivity purposes. It also serves as a comprehensive low-code extensibility platform for Microsoft Teams.

Unlock the full potential of Power Apps with our licensing solutions. Streamline your business processes, enhance productivity, and empower your team.

The True Expense of PowerApps Pricing

Microsoft offers various PowerApps pricing options, despite their claim that it is free. One option is to pay $10 per license per user, allowing users to run one power application at a time using their Office 365 credentials.

Another option is the Microsoft Power Apps Plan 1, which costs more but provides additional features such as access to the Common Data Service. Users can run up to four thousand Microsoft Flow operations or automation per month. This plan is designed for users who need to become more experienced in coding.

For users who require more advanced capabilities, there is license plan 2, which costs $50 per user per month. With this plan, users can run up to 15,000 flows per month. This PowerApps licensing is more suitable for developers with extensive coding experience.
